What is it?
This is NOT like a virus or piece of malware. It is a way of intercepting the initial connecting process between your device and your router. When it happens, it basically takes over the connection and makes it insecure (by using an encryption key for communicating of zeros) and using a different channel. It can then make changes to your device which makes internet connections insecure (removes https for example). It can also see any device on your network. When that has happened, anyone can read anything you transmit over the internet.
You need to make sure that your connected devices have been updated as much as possible. It is NOT just a problem for your router. It is not likely that it has happened to you, but it might have.
So, first of all, do you know how far your wifi extends? On an Android mobile device install an app such as Wifi Analyzer (from the PlayStore) and tthen walk around your own property checking your singal strength and those of your neighbours. If you can see your neighbours signal, they can see yours.
Before being compromised you can also check if your passwords have been compromised. ONLY DO THIS WITH PASSWORDS YOU USED TO USE, not with current ones:

Pwned Passwords are hundreds of millions of real world passwords exposed in data breaches. This exposure makes them unsuitable for ongoing use as they’re at much greater risk of being used to take over other accounts. They’re searchable online below as well as being downloadable for use in other online system. READ THE WHOLE PAGE.
