With scares such as the Yahoo password breach, it is evermore important to have not just strong passwords, but different passwords for each and every account. We have previously shown you how to reveal the the letters behnd the blobs on the password field on a browser. We have also shown you how to find the passwords stored locally by your browser. Click here.
You can also see all the passwords you have stored in Chrome on your tablet/phone:
- Open the Chrome app.
- Touch Chrome menu Menu.
- Touch Settings > Save passwords.
- Touch the link for Manage saved passwords in your Google Account.
We have also talked about the importance of strong passwords.
However strong a password may be, using it more than once creates more risk than having a really strong single password. Perhaps now is the time to look at a password manager.
Password managers:
- keep all your passwords encrypted
- can store and sync the passwords between your devices
- keep a copy of your passwords in the cloud
- keep the local copies encrypted as well
- are virtually impossible to be broken into
- can have two factor encryption
- can generate new passwords for you
- can autocomplete passwords securely
However, some of these services cost money, albeit not a lot (£8-£25 p.a.), normally as a monthly or annual fee.
Perhaps now is the time to look at a password manager.
