If you want to see a list of all the apps that are running on your tablet you need to press the relevant button to see them all.  On our tablets this means pressing and holding the middle physical button at the bottom of the tablet.  When you see the list of open apps, you can swipe them to close them or you can press the clear all option.  However, this does not stop all apps from working as many apps keep running in the background to make the tablet more effective.  You should see on the left of your screen an option called task manager.

This will show you your active applications and gives you a variety of pieces of information:

  • Active applications which you can end
  • Downloaded apps which you can uninstall
  • Ram manager which clears background processes
  • Storage which tells you how much space is left on the tablet

Let us close down all active applications, clear memory and see how much storage is available.  If it is over 8Gb are there any apps on the device that can be uninstalled?  There are a number of apps which cannot be uninstalled.  However, these can be disabled.  To do this you have to go to the application manager in settings.

Apps that you install through the play store are not removed from your play store account.

When you install, buy, or otherwise download an app on Google Play to a phone, tablet, or other device, it is both downloaded to your device and also connected to your Google Account. Your Google Account is the account that you use to access all Google services, like Gmail, Maps, Drive, Youtube, Chrome, Photos, Search, and more.

Because apps are connected to your Google Account you don’t need to worry about making sure you still have them if you get a new phone or tablet. You can find the apps you’ve previously installed, bought, or otherwise downloaded and download them again to your new device so you have access to the same apps and experiences you had on your old devices.

To re-install an app:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Play Store.
  2. Tap Menu Menuand thenMy Apps and gamesand thenAll.
  3. Find and tap the app you want to reinstall.
  4. Touch Install or Enable.

To permanently unistall an app from your account:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Play Store.
  2. Tap Menu Menuand thenMy Apps and gamesand thenAll.
  3. Find and tap the app you want to uninstall.
