App(s) is an abbreviation for application. An app is a piece of software. It can run on the Internet, on your computer, or on your phone or other electronic device.
Your tablet comes with a number of Apps which you can place on any of the screens. Pressing and holding an app allows you to move it. You can move an app to one of your home pages by pressing and holding it in the apps list.
You can manage your Apps through Settings, Apps
Android Apps are available in the Google Play Store (formerly known as the Android Market), in the Amazon Appstore and on various Android App-focused sites, and the apps can run on Android smartphones, tablets, Google TV and other devices.
To use Google Play on your Android device, you need a Google Account associated with your device. Additionally, the account must be associated with a Google email address (either Gmail or a Google-hosted domain). If you want to purchase Android apps and content on Google Play, make sure that you’ve associated Google Wallet with the same Google Account.
When you download a paid or free app on Google Play, the app is connected to your Google Account, meaning that you get several benefits:
- If you get a new device, remove an app to free up space, or reset your device, you can reinstall the app without purchasing it again.
- If you have multiple devices, you can install the app on all of your devices without purchasing the app again.
- You can quickly find free or paid apps that you previously downloaded.
Once registered, your tablet will connect with the Play Store when you tap the icon. Remember that if you have associated a credit card with the email account, its details will be used to purchase any product in the store. Be wary of associating your credit card with any account on a device you do not own!
There are Apps for just about everything. Many are free. Have a look. Bear in mind that apps with few stars or apps which have not been downloaded often may not work or might be malicious.
You can also download apps from other sites and from the internet. Beware of this. In order to enable this go to Settings, Security and enable unknown sources (this can be dangerous is you don’t know what you are doing). Some apps from outside Google Play can access your personal information without your consent or may lead to poor performance of your device.
