BBC Sounds

The BBC have launched an app called BBC Sounds which effectively replaces the iPlayer for radio.  Effectively this combines BBC Radio station content with podcasts on a huge range of topics.  You have to log in to use it and it then attempts to understand your listening habits and tilor content to you.  there’s 80,000 hours of audio available.

It’s available for Amazon Fire, iOS and Android.

If you live outside the UK, you can install the international version of the BBC iPlayer Radio app on your Amazon Fire, Android, or iOS device. Just search for “BBC iPlayer Radio” in your app store. And you can always listen to BBC Radio via the BBC Sounds website, too.

You can download podcasts to your device (for use on that device), but you cannot download radio shows.

If you want to delete a programme from your downloads you can do so by following these instructions:

  • Head to the Downloads section in My Sounds
  • (If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, you’ll need to tap Edit in the top right corner)
  • Tap on the red X icon next to the download you want to delete
  • Then tap Done when you’re finished
